Hi!!
I have a sony vaio E series laptop with pre-installed windows 7.
Its jst 20 days old and since i bought it there was no partition of hard disk.
Volume C was the single primary volume.
So when i created a new partition using Windows features as given in users
manual, it was done.But now when i have relocated all my important stuffs  to new volume the dis size of C shows 98GB free of 171GB.
But my new volume space is now less it shows 58GB free of 113GB.
so can i use that unused space in my new partition.
I tried doing it through user manual.
but it nothing happened.
The extend volume option was not working for the desired partition i.e.
the new one.
plz help

Conditions to use the Extend volume
 
·         You need to have an unallocated space on the hard drive to extend a partition and the unallocated space should show up towards the right of the partition which we want to extend
 
·         You can extend a volume only if it does not have a file system or if it is formatted using the NTFS (New Technology File System) file system.
You cannot extend volumes formatted using FAT or FAT32 (File
Allocation table).
 
·         You can extend simple or extended volumes that are not system or boot volumes, as long as there is available disk space.
 
In your case, you cannot extend the volume on a partition that is labeled New Volume.
But in order to use the free space on ‘New volume’, you can shrink the volume by right clicking on the ‘New volume’ and choosing Shrink.
This will create an unallocated
space to create a new partition or volume.
You need to follow the instructions to complete the process of creating a partition.
