delete themes supplied with windows 7

I have recently purchased a laptop from Comet now in liquidation and I wish to delete themes as supplied with the OS.
Please advise how ?
I do not like the fancy themes as I am no longer a twenty something but an EIGHTY YEAR OLD.
I just prefer BLUE not these fancy scenes.
Everytime I login the background changes and it is getting to be
"a pain in the armpit"
