Chkdsk always runs immediately - how to run at boot?

I seem to have the opposite problem of what everyone faces when I try and search for this.
I have a few partitions that I have run chkdsk on before and I want to run it now.
In the past I have done this via the GUI and Windows 7 has asked me whether I want to dismount the volume or not (and if I choose no then it asks if I want to Schedule chkdsk
at boot).
One time on one of the partitions (drive X), I clicked 'yes' to dismount.
Now, whenever I run chkdsk on X (either from the command line or the GUI) it will automatically start, rather than ask me whether I want to dismount/schedule at boot.
However
on another drive (Y) that I haven't ever said 'yes' to dismount, it still asks me the question.
Is there anyway of reverting this back so that I can run chkdsk at boot on my X drive? How can I get Windows to start asking the questions again? [Specifically I want to run chkdsk X: /B at boot time but it always dismounts and runs immediately]
 I've managed to change it in the registry using BootExecute, but I'm still looking for the underlying solution.

Reset chkdsk values to default and then check if you get the prompt to run disk checking on startup.

Open the Start Menu, then type regedit in the search box and press enter.

If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes or enter the administrator's password.
3.
In regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager.
4.
In the right pane, right click on BootExecute and click on Modify.
5.
Type autocheck autochk * and click on OK.
6.
Close regedit.

Boot in Safe Mode:

• Open Run command as previously described
• Type MSConfig
• Click on Boot tab
• Tick Safe boot in Boot option
• Select Network
• Click Apply and OK
• Reboot your system

Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.
