computer has shadow files, will not copie all backup files, reboots on its own what do I do to fix it?

My computer around may 2011 started rebooting on its own,astime progressed it does it more .Almost all the protection I have says everything working 100%.My wife ran a scan because we were making new backup disk and on #3 the disk stoped coping.She ran
a scan that said we had several shadow copies I think it may have been another word.Computer will work great for a while all of a sudden screen kicks off and goes blue ,unable to read  because it ammediately goes black with option to restart or go to safe
mode.Any info would be appreciated.  P.S I have a sony laptop with windows 7

·         Does the issue occur while performing any particular task?
 
I would suggest you to disable automatic restart and also check the vent log for any error message.
 
Disable automatic restart
 
a.       Right Click on Computer and select
Properties.
b.      Click the Advanced tab.
c.       Locate the Startup and Recovery area and click the
Settings button.

d.      In the Startup and Recovery window, locate and
uncheck the check box next to automatically restart.

e.      Click OK in the Startup
and Recovery window.

f.        Click OK in the System Properties window.
 
 
Additionally, open event viewer and check for any error messages/codes.

Manually editing the Windows registry

Manually editing the Windows registry to remove invalid MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION keys is not recommended unless you are PC service professional. We do not guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To manually repair your Windows registry, first you need to create a backup by exporting a portion of the registry related to MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (eg. Windows Operating System):

• Click the Start button.
• Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
• While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
• You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
• Click Yes.
• A black box will open with a blinking cursor.
• Type "regedit" and hit ENTER.
• In the Registry Editor, select the Error 0x9C-related key (eg. Windows Operating System) you want to back up.
• From the File menu, choose Export.
• In the Save In list, select the folder where you want to save the Windows Operating System backup key.
• In the File Name box, type a name for your backup file, such as "Windows Operating System Backup".
• In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.
• Click Save.
• The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
• You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
