I am trying to download I tunes and I keep getting an error message that says there was an error with assembly microsoft VC.80.CRT version=8.0.50727.4053 type=win32, publickeytoken=1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b, processorarchitecture=x86, HResult 0x8007054f.
what does
this mean? I have tried the apple support and still am unable to install I tunes, cna anyone help me figure this out?

The cause for this issue could be an unsuccessful install of prior Windows Updates OR Custom MSI packages could have left over faulty registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS

When an MSI installs Win32 assemblies on Windows Vista, Windows Installer uses the underlying OS servicing APIs to try to install it.
That means, if there are any Win32 assembly install failures, you can find more detailed error information in the
log named c:\Windows\Logs\Cbs\Cbs.log.
That log should include a more specific explanation for that HRESULT.

II) Download of Windows Installer 4.5 and Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Step 1: I would suggest you to download the latest version of Windows Installer 4.5 form the link below:

before proceeding further.

Step 2: When you are working on your computer and installing a new program, the installation suddenly fails.
Now you are left with a partly installed program.

trying to remove.
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall all over.

I’ve used it quite a few times myself with great success when I’ve had “unruly” programs that won’t go away.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair corrupted or missing system files:

Click Start.
Type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to open the elevated command prompt (I.e. Command prompt with administrative rights).
The User Account Control window should appear, be sure that the action it exhibits is correct, and then press the Continue button.
