Bluetooth problems Windows 8.1
Since updating the Bluetooth drivers automatically earlier this month, my PC (Packard Bell EasyNote TE) can't seem to find Bluetooth devices I know are working.
The problem has only started since the drivers were updated, but there is no option to roll
back the drivers to see if this corrects the issue.
When I click though CHARMS - SETTINGS - PC SETTINGS - PC AND DEVICES - BLUETOOTH, it just gets stuck saying "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices" and never actually finds anything.
I have tried the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooting Tool, the services.msc trick and rolling back the drivers through CONTROL PANEL - HARDWARE AND SOUND - DEVICES AND PRINTERS, and right clicking on the Bluetooth Icon.
Any other suggestions would be helpful, would doing a Refresh help?
Thanks

Hi Thomas,
From what you have described, it appears that the issue is caused due to the new driver update.
Sometimes a new driver could be incompatible with other services and can cause such issues.
You have mentioned that you have
already tried rolling back the driver from the device properties but the issue persists.
In this case, I would suggest you to try these steps and check:
Method 1:
First, I would suggest you to check the device status of the Bluetooth adapter in the device manager.
If the hardware is not functioning normally or if there is a driver issue, windows will report it in the device status.
Refer to these steps to check the device status of the Bluetooth adapter:
a) Press Windows key + X, select Device manager.
b) Expand the “Bluetooth” section to locate the Bluetooth adapter.
c) Check if there is a yellow exclamation mark or a red cross mark over it.
d) Right click on device and select properties.
e) In the General tab, check the device status.
Method 2:
If you couldn’t find any error in the device manager, then I would suggest you to reinstall the Bluetooth driver and check.
First, visit the computer manufacturer’s website to download the latest Bluetooth adapter driver.
Once you have saved the driver in the computer, follow these steps:
a) Press Windows key + X, select Device manager.
b) Expand the “Bluetooth” section and locate the Bluetooth adapter.
c) Right click the device and select “Properties”.
d) Click on the driver tab to check the current driver installed for that device.
e) Click on the uninstall button to uninstall that driver.
f) Now, install the new driver that you downloaded from the manufacturer’s website and check.
Try these steps and let us know the results.
We’d be happy to help if you need any further assistance.
Manually editing the Windows registry
Caution: Unless you an advanced PC user, please do not edit the Windows registry manually.
Because of this risk, we highly recommend using a trusted registry cleaner such as SmartPCFixer Using a registry cleaner automates the process of finding invalid registry entries, missing file references (like the one causing your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error), and broken links within the registry. A backup is automatically created before each scan, with the ability to undo any changes in a single click, protecting you against the possibility of PC damage. The best part is that repairing registry errors can also dramatically improve system speed and performance.
- Click the Start button.
- Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
- While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
- You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
- Click Yes.
- A black box will open with a blinking cursor.
- Type "regedit" and hit ENTER.
- In the Registry Editor, select the Error 0x9C-related key (eg. Windows Operating System) you want to back up.
- From the File menu, choose Export.
- In the Save In list, select the folder where you want to save the Windows Operating System backup key.
- In the File Name box, type a name for your backup file, such as "Windows Operating System Backup".
- In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.
- Click Save.
- The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
- You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
The next steps in manually editing your registry will not be discussed in this article due to the high risk of damaging your system. If you would like to learn more about manual registry editing, please see the links below.
